Hi, I'm Katie Suminski and welcome to my practice. Here's little about me and more about my passion that's been realized in occupational therapy. I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology at Cardinal Stritch University. I realized after graduating, that while I liked that field, it wasn't quite what I felt I was being called to do. I discovered a beautiful marriage between psychology and physical medicine and continued on to graduate school. I earned my master's degree from Mount Mary University in occupational therapy. During that time, I was blessed with 3 children - while there is no degree earned for that, parenting may be the most important (and challenging!) learning tool yet!
A Journey of Purpose: My journey into Occupational Therapy was ignited by a deep desire to help people overcome obstacles, discover their potential, and lead fulfilling lives mentally, emotionally, and physically. I thought I found my dream job while working in an outpatient pediatric clinic. While I did love it, I recognized a gap in the world of therapy that needed to be filled. I heard repeatedly from parents that the progress we were making wasn't generalized outside of the clinic walls. I aim to fulfill that need by providing all on-site care! I bring services to where you need it most, whether that's at home, daycare, school, or in the community. This has proven to increase progress potential by providing skilled occupational therapy services within the natural environment.
Personalized Care, Tailored Solutions: In my practice, I take a comprehensive, client-centered approach, honoring the fact no two individuals are the same. I work closely with each person and their loved ones to develop personalized therapeutic plans that address their specific needs and aspirations. It's not just about treating symptoms; it's about enhancing lives.
Advocacy and Empowerment: Advocacy is a cornerstone of my work. I advocate for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of my clients and strive to empower them to advocate for themselves. Together, we can break down barriers and create a more inclusive and understanding society.
Lifelong Learners: I remain committed to staying at the forefront of the field by continually expanding my knowledge and skills. I believe that learning is a lifelong journey, and remain eager to explore new approaches and techniques that can benefit my clients.
